About Marta

Marta Vilela Guimarães

Psychologist · Psychotherapist · OPP nº 5257

Twenty-four years walking with people through difficult moments. A patient kind of listening, trained in two traditions — relational psychoanalysis and mindfulness — that complement each other more than they oppose.

Trained in Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto, graduating in 2001. Since then she has worked in private practice, schools, vocational training centres, and in social projects — including support for women survivors of domestic violence in the SER Igual project.

In 2003 she completed a Postgraduate in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (UCAE), an area she continues to work in. Between 2021 and 2024 she specialised in Relational Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at tPsiRelacional, maintaining ongoing supervision and personal therapy — because therapeutic work is only sustainable when the therapist also keeps doing their own.

She also trained in MBSR — Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (Portuguese Mindfulness Society, 2014) and studied meditation at the Buddhist Centre of Porto. She holds these two traditions as complementary: psychoanalysis gives depth to language, mindfulness anchors in the present body — drawing on both as the person and moment ask.

A full member of the Portuguese Order of Psychologists (Cédula nº 5257), with C2-level English (First Certificate, British Council). She works with clients in Portuguese and English, lives in Porto and practises exclusively online.
